Water is one of the most powerful and amazing materials that we have in this world. Not only it is essential for us to live, but it also possesses amazing properties to the photographic professional. For instance the many physical states of water all can be photographed differently. Water also reflects light and for that reason can change the look of surfaces. Water also increases the visual impact of color. A closer examination of motion picture industry shows us that directors and realize this as well. There are many instances where streets are sprayed down with water to increase the visual look and reflection of light on the pavement.
This assignment is designed to reintroduce you to the power of the studio lights. The goal is to create a dynamic composition that uses 3-point lighting techniques and water. Students can take any angle they wish but should combine water with “something” Students should also engage in the (2) in class demos for inspiration and use of the studio lights
Students may shoot outside the classroom as long as they are utilizing 3-Point Lighting techniques and studio flash in their projects. This photo shoot is about making a creative composition. It is ok at this stage to recreate something.
Task 1: Research own Examples of Water In Photography (12) Pictures. Students look at product photography. Students should look at the Mio Water Campaign by Kraft foods (http://www.kraftbrands.com/mio/) on the Internet and Look at “Splash Photography?
Task 2: Give me a proposal of “What you want/plan to do”. Paragraph that outlines your exploration and how you are bringing your “vision” thought to a project.
Task 3: Produce 3 Photos (Compositions) / Contact Sheet (12) x2 / Self Evaluation
